Eclipse Prevail, 6-5, Over Wake Forest
|
Behind the hitting of Manny Durán, the Shawinigan Eclipse defeated the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 6-5. Durán was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Eclipse. Chris Chávez came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Kuniyuki Fukuda closed it out for Shawinigan, earning his 7th save.
Durán had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a full count fastball from Cal Thomas, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Eclipse a 6-5 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Durán.
Said Shawinigan manager : "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
The 5th-place Eclipse are 16-14.
