Almost There: Quinte West On Cusp of Round 4 Triumph After 6-1 Win
|
The Quinte West Sluggers got a strong performance from pitcher Junior Wells, who stymied the Summerland offense en route to a 6-1 win in Game 4 of the Round 4. The Scarlet Kings could never get a bead on the right-handed Wells, who threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The Sluggers now hold a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 series.
In the top of the fifth, Quinte West designated hitter Dave Hill had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Hill stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 4-0, Quinte West. For the game, he was 1-4. He drove in 2 runs.
"I was just taking it batter by batter, just enjoying the moment," said Wells.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Scarlet Kings Ballpark in Summerland.
