Houghton Claims 5-1 Victory
|
Wet weather did not postpone the Houghton-Durand ballgame.
Houghton pitcher Stan Wolfe did his part in helping his team defeat the Durand Captains, 5-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Houghton reliever Keitaro Taniguchi picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Joey Koga took the loss. Chris Ingle was credited with the save for Houghton, his 3rd of the season.
Houghton used the timely hitting of Les Young to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Renegades on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We played hard and won," said Wolfe. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
The win for the Renegades raised their record to 22-22.
