The Los Angeles Angels withstood an impressive performance by Texas designated hitter Jimmy Hogan to defeat the Rangers, 10-5, at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Hogan went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Los Angeles reliever Lou Mitchell snagged the win, upping his record to 1-3. Jesús Jiménez shouldered the loss. Los Angeles has a record of 59-85, placing them 7th in the American League West Division.

Max Garrett hit a 3-run home run off Jesús Jiménez in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Angels ahead, 5-2. In addition to the homer, Garrett had 1 double, while going 2 for 5.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Garrett told a Los Angeles Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
