The Mountain View Destroyers beat the Maryland Terps by a score of 5-1. Mountain View catcher Ron McGhee deserved the lion's share of the credit. McGhee was 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Destroyers. The win gives Mountain View a record of 2-2.

With Mountain View leading 2-1 in the top of the sixth, McGhee hit a run-scoring single off Maryland hurler Steve Lawson. It was the 6th hit of the season for McGhee and put his team ahead, 3-1.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," McGhee said after the game.
