Cubs Thwart Settlers, 5-3

Tumu Alohinani, who is tied for 2nd in the BL with a 0.81 WHIP, was locked in. The right-hander led the Iowa Cubs to a 5-3 win against the Black Earth Settlers at Ballpark of Kaibito. The winning pitcher was Alohinani, now 4-1. He tossed 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Nate Jackson finished the game for Iowa and earned his 13th save.
The Cubs got a big at-bat from shortstop Alex Fitzwater. For the game, Fitzwater was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 14th double of the season gave Iowa a 2-0 lead.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Fitzwater told the Iowa Chronicle.
At 29-21, the Cubs find themselves in first place in the Ruths League South Division.
