Saint Paul took on Buffalo in front of a lively crowd.

The Buffalo Bisons got a sterling performance from left fielder Juan Bocanegra, but the Saint Paul Saints still prevailed, 6-4. Bocanegra went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The first-place Bisons dropped to 41-30.

Saint Paul used a clutch at-bat from Gene Hughes to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Saints ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

In postgame comments to the Saint Paul Times, Hughes said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
