Beresford Takes Charge, Blanks Black Earth, 2-0
|
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Greg Beresford of the Arizona Wranglers proved the point at Gun Slingers Ballpark, holding the Black Earth Settlers to 5 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Beresford made us look real bad today," Settlers manager said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Beresford had 7 strikeouts and gave up no walks as the Wranglers took the 2-0 win.
Over the season Beresford has thrown 70 innings and dished out 60 strikeouts with a 5-4 mark and a 2.44 ERA.
