Long Island and Ottawa took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

The Long Island Alcoholics picked up a win at Ballpark of Ashland, knocking off the Ottawa Blitz, 9-3. Starting pitcher Tomás Soto was a big reason why. Soto yielded 3 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 10. His record improves to 7-7.

Long Island used a well-timed hit by Jeremy Miller to capture the win. The right fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Alcoholics ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Miller.

The Alcoholics raised their record to 71-53.
