Not everyone stuck through the 20-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.
Fremont used a superb performance from starting pitcher Raúl Silva to down the Ventura County Gulls, 9-0. In 6 innings, Silva surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed no runs.
Bob Gill had a big solo home run for the Moo in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Fremont leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a slider from Ernesto Zumaya, who is tied for 7th in the GL in wins with 12, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 9th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Moo ahead, 2-0.
"Things went our way," said Gill.
The Moo improved their record to 63-63 with the win over Ventura County.
