Mountaineers Beat Octopi, 3-2
|
Appalachian State first baseman Greg Anderson picked up 3 ribbies while helping his team beat back the Scottsville Octopi, 3-2. The win was credited to Eli Clark in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Lou Brooks took the loss. Mal Edwards closed it out for his 15th save.
Anderson contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Appalachian State in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Anderson took a fastball from Lou Brooks and stroked the home run to left. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Mountaineers to leap in front, 3-1.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Anderson.
After today's action, Appalachian State sits at 34-20, while Scottsville falls to 23-31.
