Medievals Stick Mudcats with 6-3 Loss
|
The Cheney Medievals defeated the Mobile Mudcats, 6-3, at Cheney Fields. Luis Medine, who is tied for 8th in the JL in home runs with 17, was a standout performer for Cheney. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 2 he knocked in. Dan Robinson earned the win to go to 8-11. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts in 8 innings of work. With this game in the books, Cheney is 67-66, Mobile 50-83.
José Reyes had a big 2-run double for the Medievals in the bottom of the third inning. With Cheney leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Sergio Ramírez and swatted a double to left. It was his 26th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Medievals ahead, 3-0.
"I think it speaks for itself, I think we came out and we played our kind of baseball," said Medine.
