The Chihuahuas kept their hot streak going.

The Hardford Yard Goats got a sterling performance from pitcher Dan Allen, but the El Paso Chihuahuas still prevailed, 5-1. Allen threw 5.2 innings of 1-hit ball. El Paso pitcher Juan Martínez earned the win, hiking his record to 5-0. Steve Holmes suffered the loss.

El Paso used a timely hit from Randy Johnson to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Chihuahuas ahead, 4-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"It's fun to come to the yard every day when you're winning," said El Paso manager .

El Paso has run its win streak to 9 consecutive.
