The Nederland Nincompoops banked on Dave Duffy and he turned in a masterful performance. The right-hander kept the Florida hitters in check. The final score was 2-1, Nincompoops. Nederland is now 54-71, Florida 58-67.
Nederland used the timely hitting of Darrel Salas to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Nincompoops on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Salas attributed the win to his team's "tenacity."
