Despite a fine performance by second baseman Ron Hutchinson, the New Britain Rock Cats lost to the San Juan Sharks, 10-5. Hutchinson was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jeff Thomas, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-9. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 9 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 4. The win makes San Juan 68-69.

Mike Krieger hit a 2-run double off Don White in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Sharks in front, 4-3. In addition to the double, Krieger had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

In comments to the San Juan Daily News, Krieger insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
