Going, Going, Gone! Mathews Hits 3 Homers Thursday, July 22nd , 2066 Ken Mathews was sending souvenirs to the sun gods all game long in the 8-7 Ft. Lauderdale Flying Fish triumph at Ballpark of Kenmare today. The 20-year-old put on a show for fans, launching not one, not two, but three home runs into the stands and powering the Flying Fish past the Valencia West Gargoyles. "One homer's good, two's great, three's out of sight," Mathews told BNN reporters after the game. "I can't wait until next game. I really feel good at the plate." The first baseman went 3-for-5, rung up 4 RBIs and scored 4 runs on his record-setting day. Ken Mathews hit a two-run home run off Chris Cheriton in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Chris Cheriton in the 6th, struck out in the 8th, walked in the 10th and hit a solo-shot off Chris Murphy in the 12th. This season Mathews is batting .267 with 24 hits and 8 home runs. He has scored 13 times and has 19 runs batted in. |
