Rays Hand Colt .45s 3-1 Loss
|
The Honolulu Rays beat the Houston Colt .45s, 3-1. Honolulu pitcher and Cleveland, Ohio, native Andre Simpson led the way. The winning pitcher was Simpson, now 2-1. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. The Rays, now 9-4, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Honolulu used a clutch hit from Del Unser to get the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rays ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"I like our moxie," said Rays manager Gustavo Cruz.
