Knights Get Past Edmonton for 2-1 Win
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Edmonton Trappers home opener. Bill Gray started for the home team against Don Sutton for the Ottawa Knights. The Trappers were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 2-1, Ottawa. Bill Gray, though, was impressive. Kyle Yeo got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings.
Ottawa used a clutch hit from Hayden Wells to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Knights ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We take it day by day here," said Wells, "and today was a good one for us."
