Seals Prevail, 3-2, Over Philadelphia
|
Seals Ballpark was the site of a competitive game between the Philadelphia Athletics and California Seals.
Jerry Bowen pitched well, but the Philadelphia Athletics still lost the game, falling 3-2 to the California Seals at Seals Ballpark. Eric Norman earned the win for California. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 2-1. Getting the save was Greg Gordon, his 2nd.
The Seals got an important contribution from third baseman Micheal Cain, who in the bottom of the second punched a 2-1 knuckle curve into right-center for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Seals ahead, 3-0.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Philadelphia skipper Jack Dunn.
The Athletics, now 3-11, continue their poor start.
