The San Francisco Meatballs got a strong performance from pitcher Steve D Barber, who stymied the Edmonton offense en route to a win, 5-2, at 420 Park. Barber went 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-0. The win takes San Francisco to 6-8.
Daniel MacGuffie had an important at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the fourth, when he hit a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season put San Francisco on top, 2-0.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," MacGuffie told the San Francisco Today.
