Pioneers Rally to Eke Out Win
Toronto got a decent performance from pitcher Ogai Nakayama, but it wasn't enough to beat the Redwood Pioneers. Redwood won the Pioneer Ballpark contest, 6-5. Nakayama threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. Redwood reliever Chandler Davis picked up the win to move to 1-0. Steve Carlton suffered the loss. With the victory, the Pioneers upped their record to 24-16.

The Pioneers were down to their final out when left fielder Howard York turned a 1-1 slider from Steve Carlton into a 2-run double. The walk-off double made the Pioneer Ballpark crowd go wild.

In postgame comments, York said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
