Meatballs Earn 5-4 Win Against Knights
The San Francisco Meatballs faced a tough opponent in Ottawa pitcher Jon Smith, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Round Table Stadium by a final score of 5-4. Smith went 9 innings and allowed 4 runs. Dick Ellsworth notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 3-4. The Knights, at 22-33, have lost 5 in a row.

San Francisco used a clutch hit from Larry Richardson to get the win. The third baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the 14th inning to put the Meatballs ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a doozy.

"We battled our tails off to get this win," said San Francisco manager John Rush.
