Blue Jays Snatch Late Win
|
The Toronto Blue Jays topped the Philadelphia Athletics, 6-4, in Canis League action at SkyDome. The game was highlighted by the performance of Toronto pitcher Yeong-suk Park. Park went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 0, and struck out 9. His record improves to 9-2. Al Downing was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Toronto took a 6-4 lead on Waylon Castro's 18th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Castro hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Philadelphia pitcher Gary Ross visibly frustrated.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Toronto manager Hollis Wright.
With the win, Toronto raised its record to 34-22.
