Aces Lose Late, 5-2
|
The California Seals topped the Atlantic City Aces, 5-2, in Canis League action at The Sandcastle. The standout performance belonged to California pitcher and Lake Arrowhead, Maine, native Daniel Ward. Lonnie Emery came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Greg Gordon finished to wrap up his 14th save.
California used the clutch hitting of Dan Thomas to snag the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Seals ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Thomas told the California Today. "But we take nothing for granted."
California is 7th in the Canis Division with a record of 44-48.
