Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Montreal Royals and Iron City Eddies.
The Montreal Royals topped the Iron City Eddies, 4-3, in Ursa League action at Iron City Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Montreal pitcher John Burns. Steve Long nailed down his 1st save.
Montreal used a clutch hit from Francis Smith to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Royals ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.
Smith told a Montreal Chronicle reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The Royals, now 17-7, have hit the ground running this season.
