5-Hit Game for Stennett
|
Rennie Stennett put on a hitting clinic today as the Chrisman Killers dumped the Shelby Reds 4-2 at Shelby Field.
The Chrisman second baseman made Shelby defenders earn their pay, lashing Shelby pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."
"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Stennett said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
Rennie Stennett doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Danny Frisella in the 10th.
This season Stennett has banged out 41 hits in 124 at-bats for a .331 average with 2 home runs. He is getting on base at a .359 pace and his totals also include 19 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
