Boardman Hits Two Homers in 5-3 Win for Seattle
|
The performance of Ralph Boardman proved critical in helping Seattle beat Montreal, 5-3. The Rainiers right fielder was 2-2 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. José Ornelas, the winner, improved to 2-3. He held the Royals to 3 runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 0. Seattle goes to 17-12.
Ricardo Castro, who finished 3rd in the UL in extra base hits with 68 in 1967, chipped in for Seattle with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"We did enough to win," said Boardman.
