Seattle Gets 5-3 Win
|
Seattle starter Mike Nixon pitched effectively against the Louisville Redbirds at Louisville Slugger Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. In 7.1 innings, Nixon surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs. Dave Boswell earned save number 4 this season.
Seattle used the bat of Raúl Díaz to get the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rainiers ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We take it day by day here," said Nixon, "and today was a good one for us."
For the Redbirds, the loss makes their record 12-20.
