Colt .45s Find a Way to Win
|
The St. Louis Terriers got a superb performance from pitcher Mike Whitehead, but the Houston Colt .45s still won the game, 2-1. Whitehead threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The winner was Houston reliever Phil Regan, now 2-1. The loser was Steve Blass. With the win, Houston pushed its record to 24-16.
Jeremy Williams, the 31-year old third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Williams contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Houston up, 2-1.
"No time for flexing," said Williams. "It's always one game at a time."
