Stockton got a terrific game from third baseman Peter Holt. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Houston, 5-4. Holt went 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Houston reliever Yoshifumi Tada picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Ken Ellis shouldered the loss. With the win, Houston raised its record to 31-22.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Houston pinch hitter Juan Rodríguez, facing Ken Ellis, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Colt .45s the 5-4 win.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Rodríguez told the Houston Times.
