4-3 Win Gets Redwood to 74-33
|
The Redwood Pioneers topped the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 4-3. Leading the way was shortstop Bobby Murcer. Murcer went 3-3 with 3 singles and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs for the Pioneers. Redwood pitcher Hiroya Kimura got the win. He's now 5-1. Yeong-suk Park was tagged with the loss. Redwood, at 74-33, is 5 games up in the Canis Division.
The Pioneers got a big at-bat from right fielder Jerry Gregory. For the game, Gregory was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 19th home run of the season gave Redwood a 3-2 lead.
After the game, Redwood manager Carlos Lara applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
