Clark Helps Trappers Win, 8-5, with Pair of Homers
|
Dave Clark left his imprint on the 8-5 Edmonton win against the San Francisco Meatballs. Clark, who won the Prime Masher Award in 1970, went 3-3 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Edmonton reliever Rory Dayman picked up the win, while Armando Negrete took the loss for San Francisco. Mike Hastings earned save number 1 this season.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Zoilo Versalles came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing San Francisco pitcher Armando Negrete, he hit a 1-2 slider for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Edmonton on top, 7-5.
"This win gets us that much closer to where we want to be," Versalles said in postgame remarks.
Edmonton, at 65-49, holds down third place in the Canis Division.
