Philadelphia turned a good effort from starter Darryl Daniel into a win over the Ottawa Knights at Round Table Stadium. The final score was 5-2. The Athletics improved to 53-63.

Philadelphia used the timely hitting of Reginald Smith to capture the win. The left fielder socked a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Athletics ahead, 4-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Philadelphia manager Jack Dunn.
