Knights Roll Over Aces, 9-4
|
Behind a solid performance from shortstop George Duncan, the Ottawa Knights defeated the Atlantic City Aces, 9-4. Duncan went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for the Knights. Pedro Hernández, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 12 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 9-8. The win lifted the Ottawa record to 61-57.
Rod Carew dealt the Aces a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Ottawa leading 2-1, Carew, who is tied for 3rd in the CL with a .416 on-base percentage, hit a first pitch curveball for a 2-run single.
"George is still learning," said Knights manager Jordan Young. "The sky's the limit for him."
