The Taft HS Lynx had no answer today for Amery HS Guardians pitcher Jason Alexander. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 8-0. Taft HS managed only 7 hits off Alexander, who had 12 strikeouts.

The extraordinarily popular Alexander got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.

"Guardians fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."

This year Alexander has gone 4-1 with an ERA of 1.26 and has 58 strikeouts in 43 innings.
