Great Effort by Shoemaker Wasted in 10-8 Hurricanes Loss
Puerto Rico third baseman Greg Shoemaker had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Shoemaker slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice, even as Kinuso beat the Hurricanes, 10-8. Kinuso starter Terry Stabler was credited with the win after throwing 124 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 7-6. Ken Brett notched his 13th save in 17 chances.

John Heller, who leads the UL in runs scored with 67, chipped in for Kinuso with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 runs batted in.

"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Heller.

Kinuso, at 41-47, sits in 8th place in the Ursa Division.
