McClain Tosses Shutout Against Willard Monday, June 26th , 1972 The bats were ice cold today for the Willard Submarines at Willard Field. Charleston Chew starter Jason McClain kept the Submarines cold all day, shutting them out in a 11-0 victory. In a fine outing, the 21-year-old hurler allowed 2 hits while striking out 10 and walking 1. "I'm not quite sure what was different today," McClain admitted later. "I didn't feel like I was doing anything differently, but the results speak for themselves." In season stats McClain shows a 7-1 record in 10 games, 65.1 innings, 91 strikeouts and a 1.93 ERA. |
