Smashing Success: Robles Wallops 3 HR Thursday, June 29th , 1972 In a powerful performance that left the fans at Watervliet Grounds buzzing, Willard Submarines third baseman Alejandro Robles blasted a trio of home runs en route to a 12-9 win over the Bass Lake Bass. "Everything was clicking," Robles told the press. "My timing was good and I got pitches I could handle and I didn't miss them." Robles shined brilliantly in the win, with 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "It's not just one guy, it's everybody," Submarines manager Vic Bader said. "Alejandro played great but it takes more than one guy to win a game." Alejandro Robles struck out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Zhong-qi Si in the 4th, walked in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Randy Ferguson in the 8th, struck out in the 9th and hit a three-run home run off Gary Ryerson in the 11th. So far this season Robles is batting .298 with 13 home runs. |
