Big 3-HR Day for Pennington Sunday, July 23rd , 1972 Three home runs usually equal a win, but not today at Turbines Stadium. The Lakeland Rustlers beat the odds and also beat Howard Pennington and the Castleton-on-Hudson Turbines, 14-9. The hot-hitting Pennington had an historic day at the plate with three home runs, 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored, but no victory. "This game is special for me. It's an individual accomplishment," he said. "As a team we didn't have a good day, but the three homers make it better." Howard Pennington flied out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Patrick Tucker in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Patrick Tucker in the 7th, hit a three-run home run off Randy Jones in the 8th and was hit by a pitch in the 9th. So far this year Pennington has hit .247 with 7 home runs, 43 RBIs and 45 runs scored. |
