Welch Hits for Cycle Against Terry's Tuesday, August 1st , 1972 Ocean City's Andre Welch accomplished what few others have done -- he hit for the cycle, collecting a single, double, triple and home run in the same game. For the day, Welch finished 4-for-4 with 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored and helped the Sailors knock off the Terry's Bats 15-14 at Terry's Field. "I didn't even know I was about to hit for the cycle until after," Welch told reporters following the game. "One of the guys mentioned it when I got back to the dugout." Andre Welch singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Britt Albert in the 4th, walked in the 7th, hit an RBI triple in the 7th and doubled in the 8th. So far this year Welch is batting .361 with 16 home runs, 45 RBIs and 45 runs scored. |
