SL2 Reliever of the Year Award Winner Named
Monday, June 11th , 1973
Don Washington said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 20 years old.

But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Lake Purdy College White Hawks rising star has won the Sub League 2 Reliever of the Year Award for 1973.

He captured the award on the strength of his 0.56 ERA over 32.1 innings. He also had 8 saves in 22 relief appearances, 52 strikeouts and only 12 walks.

He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Daron McKenzie of the Highland (Vanderburgh County) College Caimans finished second in voting, while Nate Young of the Livonia College Merlins finished third.
