Yánez Twirls No-Hitter Against Greyhounds
Tuesday, August 22nd , 1972
In a brilliant performance at High Voltage Field, Sydney pitcher Rodrigo Yánez entered an elite group by tossing a no-hitter today against the Richmond Greyhounds.
In the effort, he fanned 9 and walked 0, leading the High Voltage to a 5-0 victory.
"I was getting my off-speed stuff over so they couldn't sit on the fastball," Yánez said in the clubhouse after the game. "My guys made some nice plays behind me and cut off several hits, too."
This season Yánez has compiled a 11-7 mark, 3.12 ERA and made 24 starts.

Portland Headed to the Postseason
Monday, August 21st , 1972
The Division 1 crown remains up for grabs, but the Portland Pickles have already guaranteed themselves a spot in the playoffs after today's games.
"We're still hungry for more and to get ourselves in even better position for the playoffs," said starting pitcher Tim Gardner.
At a record of 83-37, the Pickles will be trying to finish strong this year, in hopes of sparking a playoff run that leads to the 1st RL Championship victory in franchise history.

Murillo Gives Richmond Goose Eggs
Monday, August 21st , 1972
Jesús Murillo was dynamite at High Voltage Field today, blowing away the Richmond Greyhounds in a shutout victory. The Sydney High Voltage starter had everything working as he held the Greyhounds to 5 hits in the 3-0 win.
"He was pure nasty out there today," said Richmond skipper Todd von Wenckstern. "I don't think any team in the league would've had a chance against what he was bringing."
Murillo finished the game with 14 strikeouts and 2 walks.
This season Murillo has 4 wins and 7 losses and a 4.14 ERA.
