Mariners Get Close Win Over White Sox, 4-3
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Seattle Mariners and Chicago White Sox.
The Seattle Mariners overcame a fine performance by Chicago left fielder Luis Gonzalez to defeat the White Sox, 4-3, at Guaranteed Rate Field. Gonzalez went 4-5 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Seattle reliever Jeffrey Kinder picked up the win, raising his record to 8-1. Jose Sanchez was tagged with the loss. Bobby Ayala earned save number 25 this season.
Seattle used the clutch hitting of Shane Gunderson to capture the win. The catcher drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Mariners the lead, 4-3. For the game, Gunderson had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
Gunderson called the win "a team effort."
The win puts Seattle at 85-62 this season.
