2B Howell Lights Up Reds for 5 RBIs as Cardinals Tie DCS
The St. Louis Cardinals relied on the hitting of shortstop Jack Howell to get by the Cincinnati Reds, 15-7, in Game 2 of the Divisional Championship Series today. For the game, Howell was 5 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5. The clubs are now tied, 1-1.

The Cardinals took a 4-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Facing Cincinnati hurler Alex Gonzales with two outs, Howell hit a 2-run double.

"It's on me," said Reds manager B. Boyd. "The guys I sent out there today were the wrong ones for the situation. I'll be sure to send the right ones out next time."

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 7th , 1997 at Busch Stadium II in St. Louis.
