Big Day for Boone as Braves Down Expos, 9-4
|
Braves third baseman Aaron Boone put his stamp on his team's 9-4 win over the Montreal Expos. Boone was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for Atlanta in the contest. John Smoltz, the winner, improved to 4-3. He held the Expos to 4 runs on 6 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 0. With the win over Montreal, the Braves improved to 18-18.
In the bottom of the seventh, Boone put his team in front with his 7th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came against Bob Lemay, made it 7-4, Atlanta.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Boone told the Atlanta Daily News.
