Braves Jolt Mets, 6-4, with Late Rally

The New York Mets got a superb performance from pitcher Tim Belcher. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Atlanta. The Braves won the game, 6-4. Belcher threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Atlanta reliever Stanley Zaltsman picked up the win to move to 1-1. Mike Henneman suffered the loss. Roberto Rivera finished to wrap up his 10th save.
Atlanta used a clutch hit from Brian McRae to get the win. The left fielder drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Braves ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," McRae told the Atlanta Bulletin.
Atlanta has a record of 26-25, placing them 4th in the NL National League East.
