Detroit Drops New York, 5-2
|
Starting pitcher Arthur Canestro had a solid game. He was a big reason the Detroit Tigers throttled the New York Yankees, 5-2. Canestro picked up the win for Detroit, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. The loss drops New York to 10-13.
Kent Brown, the 23-year old left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Brown contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning to put Detroit up, 2-0.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Detroit manager Bob Pollak.
