Reds Collect 3-2 Win Over Mets
|
The Cincinnati Reds topped the New York Mets, 3-2, in NL action at Riverfront Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Cincinnati pitcher and Yaritagua, Venezuela, native Francisco Torres. The winner in relief was Alan Mills. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-1. The NL National League Central-leading Reds are 38-25.
The Reds procured the win, in large part because of third baseman Gabe Alvarez. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring double.
"We did enough to win," said Alvarez.
