Reds Get 6-4 Win Versus Chicago
|
The Cincinnati Reds beat the Chicago Cubs by a score of 6-4. Cincinnati left fielder Mike Twardoski deserved the lion's share of the credit. Twardoski was 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Reds. The winning pitcher was Doug Drabek. His record is now 10-2. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits for the Reds. Alan Mills recorded his 18th save for Cincinnati.
Gabe Alvarez, who is tied for 6th in the NL with a .964 OPS, aided the Cincinnati cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth. For the game, the third baseman went 1-3 with a walk.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Cincinnati manager B. Boyd.
Cincinnati is now 41-30, while Chicago is 33-38.
