Cincinnati Wins, 7-5
|
Colorado got a terrific game from left fielder Jose Sanchez. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Cincinnati, 7-5. Sanchez was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Matt Clement earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-0. Getting the save was Julio Strauss, his 1st.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the top of the seventh inning. That's when center fielder Juan Parra, who is a seven-time Gold Glove Award winner, hit a triple. The Reds went on to win.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Parra told the Cincinnati News. "And padding the Cincinnati win column."
Cincinnati is now 44-31. Colorado is 30-45.
